Happy New Year Again

As I said in the last couple of updates, in 2013 I will be concentrating much more Jamie's Phuket Blog, which has already had 6 new posts this year. With the weather blog, there's only so much I can say - especially in high season when I could update most days with "hot" or "real hot" or "hot and a bit windy".

As an alternative, for Phuket weather news, please do follow me on Twitter where I tend to mention the weather most days along with Phuket news, blog updates, and more.

You can always check the current Phuket weather by looking at the very good Live Phuket Webcam at Karon Beach or use the other weather links on the side of this page.

If you need Phuket hotel reservations or information - I suggest looking at Agoda before anything else.

Phuket Weather - Quick Update 11th January 2013

It's hot, real hot. Well, hot and a bit windy. Not seen any rain for the last couple of weeks, which is normal for February - on average the driest month in Phuket.

For us, it's a time of year when we don't do much. Kids are at school, they also do extra activities at the weekend like music and Taekwondo, and I am busy at Sunrise Divers at Karon Beach Phuket, normally working 6 days per week. We've been doing work around the house at weekends for a few weeks too. In another 5 weeks it'll be end of school term and holiday time!

On February 2nd we were at Bang Rong Floating Restaurant for lunch, a place that's been a favourite for many years.

And in the evening we ate at the aforementioned Naowarat Restaurant in Phuket Town, with a little walk around town first ...

This last weekend was Chinese New Year. On Saturday 9th we made offerings and prayers at home.

And in the afternoon took a little drive, as we do sometimes, with no particular direction in mind. I remembered seeing a small road on the northeast coast to an area called Laem Sai. So we went exploring. I realised that I had been here once before, maybe 10 years ago. A very quiet corner of Phuket....

In Phuket Town last night there were Chinese New Year celebrations, a stage show featuring Chinese acrobats and dancers... also on this week is the Chalong Temple Fair (from now until the 19th). And from 15th - 17th there's the Old Phuket Festival, centered around Thalang Road in the old part of Phuket Town. See you there!
